Water

It is important that children have an opportunity to drink, as dehydration can affect a pupil's learning and concentration. Teachers will set rules for this in accordance to their classes age and maturity.

Water bottles are on sale in the school office.

School Meals

On April 21st 2008, we were delighted to open our new school kitchen in which locally sourced, organic and nutritionally balanced meals are ably prepared by our kitchen manager Mrs Sam Ward and her team.  The school has a healthy eating policy that promotes the development of healthy eating habits throughout the school.

To order a school meal you need to complete and return the dinner order form with money enclosed in a sealed envelope to the school office by 9:00 am on the Friday prior to the week dinners are required.  Menus and forms are available from the school reception.

Free School Meals

Children will only qualify for free school meals if parents receive Income Support, Income-based Job Seeker’s Allowance, Employment Support Allowance (Income Related), Child Tax credit (but who are NOT entitled to working Tax Credit and whose annual income (as assessed by the Inland Revenue) does not exceed £16,190), WTC during the four week period immediately after employment ceases or working hours are reduced to less than 16 hours a week (i.e. become non-working families) but still receive WTC, Guarantee Element of State pension Credit or Support under part V1 of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999.  Only one form per family need be completed.  Please return the free school meals form with the evidence to Mrs. Sally Flower in the school office.

Packed Lunches

Provision is made at school for children who wish to bring a packed lunch. Water is provided with meals but children may bring a cold drink in an unbreakable container, never glass and NO cans please, and in particular NO fizzy drinks.

Healthy eating

In order to further encourage healthy eating, the school policy of healthy snack time was extended to our KS2 children.  This means that children are only permitted to bring in fruit or vegetables for a snack during the mid-morning break or purchase a snack from our ‘Tutti Frutti’ tuck shop.  These include muffins or fruit bread along with a range of freshly prepared fruits or vegetables all at 20p per item.

Milk

Cool Milk at School Ltd is an organisation who provide, at a subsidised cost, milk in cartons for children to be served during the school day (usually morning break). For children under the age of 5, this is free.

They can be contacted through their website on www.coolmilk.co.uk or by completing a form which should be returned directly to them. Parents are responsible for placing orders for milk and payment of bills through Cool Milk at School Ltd.

If you wish to commence this in September you must ensure you contact Cool Milk in July or early August to ensure you meet the order deadline date for the beginning of term.
